Vitrum 2023 - Trade fair preview

What Rollmac will be presenting at Vitrum 2023

Rollmac, a subsidiary of Gemata Spa, specialises in enamelling equipment and roller-coat printing of flat glass. The high level of technical know-how and its own R&D laboratory allow it to constantly develop and test new solutions. One of the results is new applications that extend the life of spare parts of the brand's best-selling machines and are introduced to improve handling.

Rollmac's range includes the Rollercoater Colorglass and Multiglass, machines for coating, enamelling and printing flat glass. These have now been revised, with the result that the service life of some specific components, such as cylinders and squeegees, has been extended. Previously, these machines were equipped with steel cylinders and steel rollers coated with rubber. The rollers have now been replaced by steel spindles that can be expanded pneumatically: these are spindles on which rubberised or engraved sleeves are mounted.

During installation, the sleeve is expanded with compressed air during insertion; during machining without compressed air, the sleeve remains fixed on the spindle and does not slip off. This innovation brings a number of advantages: Handling becomes easier and more user-friendly, as there is no longer any need to change sheared rollers. Since the sleeves are much lighter, they are easier to change and can also be stored vertically to save space, and they are available for all machine widths. The new system is more cost-effective because the sleeves are more cost-effective than steel rollers and the spindles used are not subject to wear.

In addition, the doctor blades have been replaced by a new model that uses a special plastic instead of steel, which is wear-resistant and has a low coefficient of friction: Thanks to this innovation, the life of the stencils is significantly increased, which improves economic efficiency.

In the squeegee, Rollmac technicians have also introduced a horizontal movement instead of an angular movement, which guarantees the same angle and the same point of contact on the stencil, keeping the functional parameters constant, i.e. capacity and impact.

With these developments, Rollmac manages to guarantee the maximum efficiency of its equipment and spare parts, the company underlines.

All Rollmac products are developed in the company's own research and development department and tested both in the laboratory and at the customer's site in close cooperation.

Rollmac's product range also includes the Glassline edge roller coater for coating flat glass edges and the Glassdrier infrared drying oven. All Rollmac systems are equipped for remote maintenance and meet the requirements of Industry 4.0.
