Despite an invitation to tender for aluminium - or rather, luckily - the metalworking contractor Société Vilet from Calais proposed to carry out the work using the Janisol Arte 2.0 steel profile system. The managing director, Xavier Audooren, was firmly convinced that the fine steel rungs of the thermally separated profile represented the more appropriate solution. Facade specialist Audooren did not need many words to get the client excited about his proposal - the photos of other projects realised with Janisol Arte 2.0 spoke for themselves.
Replicas true to the original
The faithfully reconstructed elements, including the profiles bent at a radius of 1.65 metres, were prefabricated in the metalworker's workshop and colour-coated by an external service provider. Before the installation, however - and this turned out to be the biggest challenge of the project - the old windows had to be removed without damaging the masonry. It was a lot of effort for the metal workers.

Jansen built a glass roof over a motorway in Warsaw
By comparison, the installation of the new windows from Jansen turned out to be simple. They were glazed with double insulating glass (28 mm thick) - in the lower part, in which the doors to the Belvedere are integrated, in the pane structure 44.2 / 12 / 44.2, in the two parts above, in the pane structure 33.2 / 16 / 33.2. Filling the IG-units with argon made it possible to go for a slender design.
