"Our partnership and the use of the new Saflex Crystal Clear PVB film has enabled us to significantly improve the appearance of Guardian UltraClear. Guardian UltraClear, which is used with the Crystal Clear film, is also available with a wide range of coatings and surface treatments and can therefore be used specifically for a wide range of high-end solutions".
Available now
Both the PVB interlayer Saflex Crystal Clear and the extended product portfolio for Guardian UltraClear LamiGlass Neutral have been available in Europe since 15 October 2020. It will be launched in other regions in the course of 2021.
There are two main areas of application for Guardian UltraClear using the Crystal Clear interlayer: the building envelope (e.g. facades, windows, skylights, exterior doors, shop fronts, shop windows etc.) and interior design (e.g. interior doors, partitions, stairs, balustrades and railings, furniture etc.).
Almost invisible
The collaboration between Eastman and Guardian Glass is intended to ensure that the growing demand for high quality colour-neutral glass products for the premium segment of the residential and commercial building market can be met.
"Until now it has been difficult to laminate extra white glass with conventional interlayers without affecting the neutral, transparent appearance typical of extra white glass," said Priya Kalsi, Segment Market Manager at Eastman. "Our new Saflex Crystal Clear greatly improves the appearance of extra white Guardian UltraClear in laminated glass. It is very similar to the monolithic Guardian UltraClear. At the same time it offers the same advantages as conventional laminated glass in terms of safety and sound insulation. The PVB interlayer Saflex Crystal Clear is almost invisible regardless of the viewing angle and light conditions".
