Installation:

Heavydrive has you covered all around the world

Thanks to years of practical experience with shipping lifting and installation equipment around the world, the Heavydrive experts know the requirements of the various international markets and are able to reliably organise all the necessary paperwork. In accordance with the country-specific regulations, the Heavydrive installation specialists also carry out test operations with the systems under extreme conditions.

"To ensure efficient and smooth operations on-site, Heavydrive prepares for all eventualities in advance. This includes the optimal configuration of the assembly equipment, but also all prescribed, country-specific safety and customs regulations," explains Heavydrive Managing Director Günter Übelacker.

North America has special rules for lifting equipment in accordance with CSA and OSHA standards.

North America has extremely strict product liability laws for equipment. The CSA test mark is mandatory for all equipment used in Canada. For a Canadian customer, Heavydrive carried out a test application with the LSG 2000 KMHL suction unit with swivel adapter and counter traverse as well as a 2,500 kg glass pane at its headquarters in Tapfheim.

The vacuum suction system was also tested under worst-case conditions. The weight of the test pane was 2.5 tonnes, 25 per cent more than the actual load of the system. In addition, the failure of a safety circuit with a glass pane in place was simulated. Despite these extreme conditions, the huge glass element remained balanced and could be safely swivelled left and right, tilted and put down. So the Heavydrive suction system met the strict Canadian regulations and the system could be delivered to Vancouver for use without any issues.

Also for North America, an OSHA certificate is required for assembly operations. The OSHA standards ensure occupational safety on site. Four-tonne glass panes will have to be installed for a customer in Miami. In order to obtain the necessary permit, Heavydrive is currently organising an appropriate load test with the intended installation equipment.

Heavydrive has answers for the challenges that cold weather imposes on lifting technology

For operations in the far north, suction and assembly equipment as well as lifting plates must be proven to function under harsh climatic conditions. Standard equipment for setting glass panes usually only works down to around zero degrees Celcius.

For use in extreme sub-zero temperatures, Heavydrive has developed special winter plates that safely suck in and set the glass elements at temperatures as low as -25 degrees. For a planned large-scale operation, the fitters carried out a test operation at extreme sub-zero temperatures in the presence of a test engineer. The Heavydrive suction systems worked flawlessly even at -25 degrees and thus received the Sub-Zero certification.
