Direct glazing:

H.B. Fuller | Kömmerling and profine jointly promote direct glazing

They originate from the same company and specialise in window construction: Now it is not only these similarities that connect H.B. Fuller | Kömmerling on the one hand and profine GmbH (with the "Kömmerling" profile brand, among others) on the other. The manufacturer of adhesives and sealants and the supplier of window and front door profiles already entered into a cooperation last year. Together they are pursuing the goal of advancing direct glazing in window construction. As a specialist in profile systems, profine GmbH has been active in direct glazing since 2004 and has suitable window systems (76AD/MD, 88AD/MD, proStratoTec, Kömmerling Unity) in its portfolio. With Ködiglaze, H.B. Fuller | Kömmerling offers special pane adhesives for direct glazing and thus supports window manufacturers with a comprehensive concept for implementing the adhesive technology in their own production.

Bonded windows convince end customers with increased intrusion protection, better insulation and stronger sound insulation. In addition, the stable construction allows manufacturers to offer glazing in new designs with particularly narrow frames and large glass surfaces. In production, the bonding of the elements can be automated efficiently and becomes more cost-effective in the long term, also because no or less steel is needed. In addition, there is no need for maintenance and readjustment work such as re-blocking the sashes, which brings great advantages in the continuous use of the window. In addition, thermal bridges and thus heating costs and environmental pollution are reduced by bonding.

What advantages come out of this cooperation?

Indispensable for the lasting durability of the bonding is the compatibility with all contact materials in and around the window. "Our adhesives and the window profiles from profine GmbH are perfectly matched," says Michael Merkle, Key Account Manager at the adhesives expert and specialist for direct glazing.

Dominik Kiefer from profine GmbH's Product Market Management adds: "Small window manufacturers, but also large companies with automated production, benefit from our cooperation. We support them in including direct glazing in their portfolio." In concrete terms, this means that the two companies accompany window manufacturers from the initial technical discussion to functional integration into production and full automation. "In the process, we naturally pass on our know-how and market knowledge to the customers and help with cooperation with leading machine manufacturers, if necessary," says Michael Merkle.
