As a current example, the glass manufacturer Euroglas shows how the glass release agent can be changed to a more sustainable alternative. In this way, the company sees itself as a pioneer in the glass industry. Practical implementation at Euroglas: To prevent glass sheets from sticking together, all float glass is dusted with a powder shortly after the cooling process. But not all release agents are the same here, because the products used in the industry so far mostly contain small amounts of microplastics.

Against this background, Euroglas started looking for a more environmentally friendly alternative and found what it was looking for: After intensive discussions with the manufacturer and a test phase lasting several months, a new release agent was finally found that does not contain microplastics at all. This means that Euroglas will already comply with the EU's planned regulation on the restriction of tiny plastic particles this year.
