Today, building users want sophisticated functional glass for safety, sound insulation and energy efficiency. Due to the increasing demand, the AGC Group is adjusting its capacities and investing in the expansion of the growth market for LSG and laminated glass. Good growth prospects and the strategic location in the middle of Europe underpinned the decision to invest in the plant in Osterweddingen.
The AGC plant connects the markets in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary). The investment will make the Osterweddingen plant a fully integrated site.
What does AGC mean by a fully integrated site?
The standard and low-iron float glass produced in Osterweddingen can be further processed on the existing coating lines and by means of the new LSG production into any higher-quality functional glass - from individual fixed sizes to XXL glazing of the "OverSized" brand.
When will production on the new LSG line start?
The new LSG production is scheduled to start operations at the end of 2023. Preliminary work has already started at the plant.

Enrico Ceriani, Vice President Primary Glass, explains the goals of AGC Glass Europe: "At AGC, customers and their specific expectations and needs are part of our everyday thinking and actions. This strategic investment is our response to the increasing demand for well-being products at home, at work and everywhere else. The incomparable beauty of glass is also that the functional aspects of safety, sound insulation and energy saving are always linked to transparency, which makes people feel connected to their surroundings at all times."
