The Flachglas Group, committed to operational excellence, continually invests in new technologies across its German locations. Partnering with Glaston, Flachglas has previously upgraded its tempering lines and now focuses on the lamination line at its Wernberg site.
The upgrade, completed in January 2024, replaced old heating chambers and press rollers with advanced components, adding a reporting system and thermoscanner. The line was back in operation within 15 days, including operator training and successful product testing.

A significant feature, the "split drive," allows new glass sandwiches to enter the heating chamber before the previous ones exit, increasing capacity and reducing employee wait time. This system automates most production, with manual input required only for special products.
The modernization has resolved issues like bubble formation and film combination, enabling automatic production of laminates with SentryGlas interlayers as thin as 0.89 mm. Due to these successes, Flachglas plans to upgrade a second laminating line with Glaston, using a patented convection control system to streamline the production of large-format and multilayer SentryGlas laminates.
