Sparklike Oy is proud to introduce the improved Sparklike Laser Portable 2.0 device that allows mobile and non-destructive measurement of insulating gas concentration for triple and double glazed insulating glass units. The improved version of the device is mobile, more compact, provides easier measurement and features what Sparklike calls the Ergogrip that comes with three handles and start-buttons, make it easier to handle in different measuring positions. It is provided with a vacuum mechanism for gripping closely to the IG unit. An optical signal indicates when a measurement is occurring and when the vacuum grip is released.
Compared to the original version of the Sparklike, the main unit case has become smaller and has been equipped with 150 mm pneumatic wheels for easy manoeuvring. As optional extras, the Sparklike Laser Portable 2.0 comes with a barcode scanner and wireless Internet connection. This allows over-the-air technical support. The device will start being delivered in November of 2020.
Measure on-site and as part of a production line
"All Sparklike devices are designed in close collaboration with our customers. We listened to our customers and wanted to further develop our popular portable laser device to improve usability and make measurement even more easy and comfortable. We are very proud to have the first and only non-destructive measuring technology for IG units," says Mr. Jukka Manner, CEO of Sparklike Oy.
The Sparklike Laser technology was originally launched to the market in 2014 and the first edition of the Sparklike Lasers device, a laser measurement device was launched in the autumn of the same year. Since launching, a total of almost 200 laser devices have been delivered to over 50 countries.
The improved Sparklike Laser Portable 2.0 provides a fully integrated system that has a robust case with wheels and a battery for improved mobility. As a result, the device allows measurement of the gas concentration on the IGUs both on the production line and on-site. The device measures the oxygen level and calculates results which are displayed as argon, krypton or other insulating gas concentrations.
Patented and proprietary laser technology
"Non-destructive measurement and the mobile features are the main benefits of the Sparklike Laser Portable 2.0 device. For occasions when automatic measuring needs to be integrated directly into the IG line, we offer the Sparklike Laser Integrated measurement station (formerly Online), which is based on the same patented and proprietary Sparklike laser technology," Mr. Manner continues.

The ever-growing popularity of the Sparklike devices is due to the fact that this Nordic company – that holds various patents for their never-before-seen technology – is continuously able to develop their expanding range to meet industry requirements. In other words, Sparklike devices allow IG manufacturers, window and door manufacturers, testing laboratories, building quality inspectors as well as construction consultants worldwide, the possibility to measure gas concentration of IG units in a fast, economic and non-destructive way.
