Edgetech Europe invites architects and designers to discover the highly versatile, metal-free, flexible Super Spacer spacer system at the BAU trade fair in Munich, Germany. From January 13 to 17 2025, here is what you can expect.
Danish architect Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) believes there is no single answer to what sustainable buildings of the future will look like. Two examples are the new concrete BIG headquarters in the port of Copenhagen and the timber Skypark Business Centre at Luxembourg Airport. What seems contradictory, actually shares a high standards of sustainability, resource conservation and energy efficiency, and both feature insulating glazing with Super Spacer spacers. Here are both projects in detail.
Edgetech, providers of the Super Spacer brand of warm edge spacer bars, will be exhibiting at this year’s FENSTERBAU FRONTALE Nuremberg, Germany, 19 to 22 March 2024. More details here:
The heart of Belfast is home to a number of magnificent Victorian bank buildings. These listed buildings have now been fitted with new glazing using Edgetech's Super Spacer Heritage (warm edge) spacers.
The restoration of historic windows is taking on a new dimension thanks to modern technologies and the use of insulating glass with the Super Spacer spacer system. Projects in Northern Ireland and Austria show how the challenges of heritage conservation, energy efficiency and the use of a warm edge can be successfully combined.
Berlin's Alexanderplatz is also home to the "Haus des Berliner Verlages" - today's "Pressehaus am Alexanderplatz". It will be extensively renovated in 2021 and expanded with a new glass building. Solar control glass from AGC Interpane with Super Spacer spacers is installed there.
Vitrum 2023 will open its doors from 5 to 8 September at the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition centre in Milan. Vitrum will also feature Edgetech’s latest warm edge spacer products. Such as the entire Super Spacer product line.
Super Spacer can lay claim to some world premieres in facade technology solutions. Here are some very spectacular examples in museum spaces.
We’ve been her before: In 1973, a global energy crisis had already directed focus to the energy efficiency of buildings. With the Thermal Insulation Ordinance of 1977, single-pane glass was banned, coated insulating glass quickly became the standard and the Uw value dropped substantially.
The Super Spacer T-Spacer SG was developed for structural glazing and XXL glass panes. The typical T-shape of the warm edge spacer has been adapted to the requirements of automated insulating glass lines for large formats.
There is a clear trend in modern glass architecture towards large facades without visible support structures. At the last glasstec, Edgetech Europe had presented projects in New York and Sweden where flexible Super Spacer spacers had been used to great effect:
The facade design for the MOL Campus in Budapest featured the Super Spacer spacer system from Edgetech/Quanex. The structural glazing facade consists of flat, single-curved as well as convex and concave curved panes.
XXL safety glass explained, curved bullet-proof triple glazing, warm edge spacers in an aluminium facade and FESTERBAU FRONTALE now to be held in July. These are our top stories of the week:
Super Spacer warm edge spacers have been installed in two showcase projects whose main materials - aluminium versus conventional concrete - could hardly be more different. But read here what both projects also have in common:
That is what project developer Omniyat calls "The Opus" tower in downtown Dubai. The building envelope pushes the limits of what is technologically feasible with advanced engineering. Edgetech Super Spacer TriSealTM are a key part of this massive 3D puzzle.
While affordable architecture is one of the most pressing concerns of our time, the issues of sustainability, energy efficiency, land sealing, recycling management, comfort and social integration would seem to run contrary to the economic demands. Lars Gitz Architects and BaseCamp Student pulled off the remarkable feat of combining these complex requirements within a spectacular, multi-award-winning student residence.
A window system that is burglary resistant even when tilted, a building in Copenhagen that is super sustainable thanks to Super Spacers, seven-day deliveries is spite of supply chain constraints. And installing wood windows in winter – what can go wrong? Here are our top stories of this week:
The copper shell for the Maersk Tower in Copenhagen is a prime example of what can be achieved when Danish architecture, Austrian steel and glass construction and German curved glass come together with Edgetech’s Super Spacer warm edge spacers. Read here how it all works:
Super Spacer insulating glass lines are at the heart of production at Deschanet. Here is the example of the Tropical House at the Zoo de Vincennes in France where Super Spacer warm edge spacers were used:
The HoHo Vienna is not only one of the tallest wooden constructions in the world. The LEED Gold-certified building features 6,000 square metres of insulating glass incorporating Edgetech’s Super Spacer warm edge spacer system. Read on for more details:
Following the launch of the Super Spacer T-Spacer SG spacer system for automated processing, Edgetech/Quanex now presents the manual version for structural glazing elements and XXL formats.
Edgetech/Quanex presents the further development of the warm edge Super Spacer T-Spacer Premium Plus in the form of Super Spacer T-Spacer SG. The product was developed for structural glazing and XXL glass panes in order to optimise the durability properties of the edge seal. See how the typical T-shape of the warm edge spacer has been specially adapted to the requirements of automated insulating glass lines for large formats.
Cricursa Cristales Curvados, SA and Super Spacer have been working together in the production of curved XXL insulating glass units for iconic buildings with unique glass facades for some time now. Especially for reasons of energy-efficiency, the warm edge spacer system was used for the 5,500 square metre glass facade of the Qatar National Library in Doha, which was completed in 2018. See here how wavy glass has benefits beyond looking cool:
Digitisation has transformed architecture. Buildings and facades are created that would not have been possible without 3D design and computer-aided algorithms. By virtue of its malleability, it is possible for the flexible Super Spacer spacer system made of structural foam to be installed in some of the most exposed, free-form glass facades of the past decade.
