The structure of a Fineo Hybrid glass pane enables better thermal and sound insulation values than contemporary triple insulating glass.

With "Fineo Hybrid" there is now an insulating glass in a 2-pane construction with one pane of it made of vacuum glass. The IG unit surpasses even triple glazing in thermal insulation and sound insulation and can be glazed into well-preserved window frames within a few minutes. The glass replacement is also subsidised by BAFA with up to 15,000 euros. Here are the details.

With "Fineo Hybrid", the eponymous subsidiary of AGC Glass Europe has now developed a ready-to-install insulating glass with an integrated vacuum glass unit, which, with a Ug-value of less than 0.5 W (m2K), offers more effective thermal insulation than modern triple-glazed insulating glass, but is significantly narrower.

Homeowners and real estate companies are thus enabled to replace technically outdated insulating glass with a time expenditure of a few minutes per window and to continue using window profiles and frames that are in good condition. The sustainable glass replacement does not cause any soiling or subsequent work on the facade and can be carried out in wood, aluminium, plastic profiles or also in mixed profiles.

Replacing the panes with vacuum glass is worth it

Fineo Hybrid is similar in structure to a double-glazed insulating glass unit, but the technical values for heat and sound insulation are significantly better due to the vacuum glass technology. This makes it possible to replace panes instead of new windows, especially in the case of renovations.

Replacing the entire windows would be the standard solution, but it would be very costly in terms of construction, would cause a lot of dirt and subsequent work on the façade would be unavoidable.

AGC subsidiary Fineo now offers an elegant alternative with a well-developed network of certified installation partners: This inspects the existing windows and, together with the homeowners, determines the structure of the new insulating glass. Afterwards, the old insulating glass is cleanly and quickly removed and replaced with the new insulating glass. In this way, well-preserved frames can be retained.

This is not only economical, but also the far better solution in terms of sustainability - after all, why throw away what is still in good condition? Fineo Hybrid exceeds the technical values of triple insulating glass, but has a much slimmer structure starting at 22 mm.

The vacuum glass "Fineo" transforms old transom windows into contemporary windows, and the beautiful wooden profiles and window frames are retained.

Excellent thermal insulation and soundproofing properties

The combination of a normal window pane and a Fineo unit in a double insulating glass unit results in excellent thermal insulation and soundproofing properties. The Ug value is between 0.4 and 0.5 W(m2K), depending on the configuration chosen. The increased sound insulation (Rw up to 38 dB) keeps traffic noise out. Like the monolithic product, Fineo Hybrid does not require the evacuation opening of conventional vacuum glasses, which is why the glass is maintenance-free.
