The electrification of construction machinery continues to be a major challenge for the industry. The transport and lifting specialist Heavydrive took up this challenge early on and launched the first mini cranes with hybrid and electric drives on the market 15 years ago. The range of battery-powered suction units LSG, glass assembly units GMG and mini lifts ML was then gradually expanded. The units thus operate emission-free and offer maximum performance and flexibility on the construction site.
How long does the battery last during installation?
A major concern for craftsmen with battery-powered equipment is that the runtime on the construction site is too short and that the power of the drive decreases. This is because a battery that displays a full charge does not necessarily deliver full output, as many charging cycles reduce the output.
[You need lifting equipment for a project far away?]
Heavydrive counteracts this with a special service. In the company's own workshop, all units are intensively tested before they go to the customer. This includes a test according to accident prevention regulations, but also tests in a self-developed battery test stand. In this way, the customer only receives units with absolutely high-performance batteries.
"It must not happen that a unit fails on the construction site after a long sea voyage, for example. We take precautions with our battery test system so that the customer can rely one hundred percent on our equipment," explains Heavydrive Managing Director Günter Übelacker. With the help of GPS tracking, the company is also always up to date on the current battery status of the equipment during long-term assignments worldwide.
How does this bring more flexibility at the construction site?
Assembly systems with battery drive also enable versatile use on the construction site. The units are powerful outdoors, but can also be used indoors without any problems thanks to their emission-free operation.

Furthermore, the compact design and intuitive operation of the Heavydrive units ensure maximum flexibility in the field of application. "It is important to us that our units can be used in as many areas as possible. Operation is so simple that instruction by our expert via video telephony is often sufficient," says Günter Übelacker.
