Interview with Lisec CEO Gottfried Brunbauer

"We are on the way to the future"

GW-News: These are turbulent times, what is Lisec's current position?

Gottfried Brunbauer - Lisec is in a good position. We have simplified our structures and made them more transparent, and we have aligned them even more closely to customer requirements. This has helped us to cope very well with the Covid pandemic crisis. What pleases me most is that our customers perceive the changes positively and give us corresponding feedback.

All these measures contribute to the fact that Lisec is in a very good position today. What is important for our customers is that in terms of ordering/waiting times, we are still in the range of similar delivery times as before Covid.

We are currently working on increasing our capacities in order to be able to serve the market even better. And this can be seen in the long term. Since the beginning of 2021, we have hired almost 170 new employees. We are on a good path to the future.

With our new hub structure, we are able to respond even faster to all requests from glass processors worldwide. And our customers appreciate that.

Please say something more about the digitalisation of the glass industry.

Brunbauer: The "digital transformation" stands not only for the increased use of computers and data, but above all for completely new approaches and work processes. For us as a manufacturer, the question is how we can shape this transformation in terms of increasing the benefits for our customers.

Lisec has recently established a hub structure worldwide, how is that working out?

Brunbauer: The hub structure is part of our reorganisation process, which aims to continuously improve transparency and speed. The hubs are our worldwide focal points and control the activities in the respective region independently and network them. This enables us to react more directly to customer enquiries in the region without having to directly involve the central organisation in Austria. Of course, this is faster, as there are no time differences or language barriers to delay the processes, for example.

The new structure is developing a noticeable, positive dynamic worldwide, which we support by increasing the competences, by the appropriate technical equipment, by corresponding after-sales processes and the corresponding manpower on site. At the same time, we ensure a strong connection to our headquarters in Austria with a dual leadership in the management of each hub. In short, we are very satisfied with our new hub structure, and we are achieving the desired results.

What are the special features you are showing in Düsseldorf?

Brunbauer - As I said, in addition to our software and machine innovations and the comprehensive solutions for automation, we want to present our "All-In-One-Solutions" in particular. In this context, we will also show various robot applications, including frame setting for IGU manufacturers. Visit us in Düsseldorf, we are looking forward to it.
