Luxembourg's city centre is often narrow and labyrinthine. Difficulties with assembly and construction work occur especially in the very narrow approach to the pedestrian zone, where construction sites also have to be cordoned off for the safety of passers-by. This was also the case with this installation job, where two curved panes weighing 850 and 950 kg had to be placed.
Which Heavydrive lifting equipment was used?
Special Heavydrive assembly equipment was used for this job: The fitters chose the VSG 950 KR vacuum unit in combination with the VSG 2000 Konter counter beam for the installation of the curved panes. Both units are from Heavydrive. The vacuum suction system was specially developed for convex and concave curved panes and has a load capacity of up to 950 kg.

The assembly equipment was then attached directly to a truck-mounted crane before installation. And the operator could then precisely control the Heavydrive counter traverse by remote control and thus safely balance the weight of the glass elements in each case.
In addition, the lifting beam enabled the panes to be safely transported under a protruding part of the building. Within half a day, the heavy curved bullet-proof glass panes were safely installed at the round corner of the lower and upper floors.
