According to Swisspacer, production waste from its own factories will be recycled first, followed by recyclable materials from customers. The manufacturer of warm edge spacers is thus making decisive progress with its sustainability strategy.
More from Swisspacer: New focus on automation and leadership
Until now, it has only been possible to recycle part of its own production waste. With the new technology, it will be possible to return 100 per cent of the pre-consumer material to the production process. ‘With our new system, we are utilising the full potential of the material. This is a decisive step forward in our sustainability strategy,’ says Dariusz Lewandowski, Head of Operations at Swisspacer.
No compromises on product performance
The quality remains unaffected, even with a higher proportion of recycled materials, as the company emphasises.
The latest recycling technologies allow the use of up to 50 per cent recycled material without compromising on performance.
Zero-waste as a strategic goal
In the long term, Swisspacer is focussing on zero-waste production in order to actively promote the circular economy in the construction industry. Packaging should also increasingly consist of recycled materials.

In addition, the recycling strategy is being extended to include taking back unused spacers from customers. This means that customers, i.e. insulating glass manufacturers, can also actively contribute to the circular economy and better achieve their own sustainability goals.
