Fineo is now the only vacuum insulation glass with CE marking

When the European Construction Products Regulation (EU CPR) 305/2011 came into force, the CE marking became mandatory for construction products covered by harmonised technical specifications and published in the Official Journal of the EU.

Currently, vacuum insulation glass is not fully covered by a harmonised EU standard and is therefore not subject to the CE marking obligation. With the CE marking, manufacturers confirm compliance with EU health, safety and environmental protection standards and ensure easier market access and consumer confidence in the European Economic Zone.

With this in mind, AGC embarked on the long process via the EOTA route in 2018. The European Technical Assessment for Fineo (ETA 20/00481) was already published in 2020, followed by the publication of the European Assessment Document (EAD 300021-00-04042) on 20 November 2024.

Fineo by AGC

This makes Fineo by AGC the first and only European manufacturer to live up to its pioneering role and achieve the world's first voluntary CE marking for its vacuum insulation glass. Fineo by AGC is manufactured in Lodelinsart, Belgium, and therefore entirely in Europe.

Suitable for renovation and new-builds

In renovation projects, the vacuum glass enables the replacement of single and double glazing while retaining the original frames.

For new buildings, Fineo by AGC offers intelligent and innovative solutions in terms of sustainability, technology and design for the increasing demand for energy-efficient buildings. It is close in energy performance of triple glazing, is lighter and offers better sound insulation.

Certified according to ETA 20/0048

Fineo has been independently tested by UBAtc, the Belgian Association for Technical Approval in Construction, for characteristics such as fire behaviour, load resistance, sound and thermal insulation performance and durability, among others, and verified in the European Technical Assessment ETA 20/0048.

‘We have taken a major step towards market penetration of our innovative glass technology. With the CE marking, we are also making it easier for manufacturers of window profiles and facade systems to integrate Fineo vacuum glazing,’ says Louis Dellieu, Head of Product Management for Fineo by AGC, and continues: ’Last but not least, the CE marking is an internationally recognised quality feature that promises building contractors a high level of quality, reliability and safety for our products.’
