Fineo

The first and only vacuum insulating glass with general type approval for Germany

At the beginning of January 2025, the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) issued the general type approval (aBG) with the number Z-70.4-304 for Fineo vacuum insulating glass (VIG): https://www.dibt.de/en/service/approval-download/detail/z-704-304

This allows the use of Fineo vacuum insulating glass for linear vertical glazing in construction projects in Germany without approval in individual cases. This means that approval procedures for glass façade projects with Fineo vacuum insulating glass can be simplified and accelerated in many cases.

In Germany, the dimensioning of linear glazing is carried out in accordance with DIN 18008-2. As it does not contain any regulations for the comparatively new technology of vacuum insulating glazing, the DiBt issued a general type approval (aBG) for the Fineo product range.

The aBG regulates aspects of planning, dimensioning and design as well as operation and maintenance. An aBG supplements national or European regulations, such as a European Technical Assessment (ETA 20/0048).

As a European Technical Assessment (ETA 20/0048) based on a European Assessment Document (EAD) is available for Fineo vacuum glass, the installation of this vacuum glass in linear glazing is permitted without additional general building authority approval (abZ).

CE marking is also available for Fineo

At the end of 2024, Fineo by AGC was the first and only European manufacturer of vacuum insulating glass to receive the CE mark. The CE mark makes it easier for planners, architects and building owners to carry out construction projects, as it confirms compliance with European safety, health and environmental protection standards.
