The company's first functions were to produce paraffin lamps and medicine bottles, which were top priorities at the time. CEO Görkem Elverici: ‘Today, we are a global player active in all core areas of glass production. We are the world leader in glassware, among the top three in soda ash production and among the top five in glass packaging and flat glass. We are also a leader in chrome chemicals.’
The digital transformation, an important step
Elverici emphasises Şişecam's continuous progress and loyalty to its founding principles: ‘Our journey began 89 years ago with 400 employees and today spans 14 countries on four continents. In 2024, we successfully completed the digital transformation phase of our growth and improved our ability to make fast and strategic decisions based on data.’
Sustainability as a commitment
The CEO continues: ‘At Şişecam, sustainability is not an option, but a commitment. As part of our CareforNext sustainability strategy, we launched numerous impactful projects in 2024 that focus on climate protection, the efficient use of resources, innovative technologies and reducing energy consumption.’
These initiatives are not only helping the company to shape a better future, but are also driving the transformation of the glass industry.
