At BAU 2025, Vetrotech Saint-Gobain will be presenting the new Contraflam 90-1 from the Contraflam One product range, currently the clearest, thinnest and lightest fire-resistant glazing in the EI90 class on the market. It is based on two thin toughened safety glass panes and a ‘single-chamber’ foaming technology in the intermediate layer. With a significantly reduced proportion of bound carbon, it also contributes to a more sustainable and lighter construction.
What is behind the Hybridcore technology?
Thanks to the unique Hybridcore technology, the Contraflam One product range sets new standards in terms of light transmission, weight and sustainability. Contraflam One is the result of years of research and development and fulfils fire resistance classes from 60 to 120 minutes despite having only one chamber. The product name Contraflam 90-1 refers to the EI90 fire resistance class with just one chamber. This glass has a high light transmission (TL) of 88% in accordance with DIN 410, is up to 42% lighter and saves up to 35% less CO2 emissions compared to multi-chamber constructions.

The wide temperature range of -40 °C to +60 °C simplifies transport, handling and installation. As part of the Contraflam product range, Contraflam One offers complete thermal insulation within the maximum permissible temperature rise in the EI classes in the event of a fire, as well as effective fire protection. The product therefore fulfils the highest fire protection requirements. The use of toughened glass (ESG) makes it robust in processing and installation, UV-resistant and shatterproof.
Thanks to the pioneering single-chamber system with two thin toughened safety glass panes, Contraflam 90-1 weighs up to 42 % less than a comparable product with several chambers. This makes transport, handling and installation easier. Sustainability is also a central, important value for Vetrotech.
Contraflam 90-1 is suitable for all interior applications where the lowest possible weight combined with high light transmission is required, such as for T90 fire doors. This makes Contraflam 90-1 - as well as the Contraflam 60-1 and Contraflam 120-1 variants - an enrichment to the proven Contraflam glass product range.
Successfully tested many times over
Contraflam One with the three classifications EI60, EI90 and EI120 is CE-marked and has been successfully tested on the European market in various frame systems made of aluminium, steel and wood for different interior and exterior applications - from partition walls and doors to curtain walls.

Further European tests and corresponding certifications for the fire protection classifications of EI60 and EI120 minutes will follow, so that the three most important classes will be available on the market in 2025. The glass in the Contraflam One product group can be combined with the world's first low-carbon glass, Oraé, to achieve an even smaller ecological footprint.
