Şişecam experiences strong growth despite challenges

With production sites in 14 countries on four continents and sales in over 150 countries, Şişecam generated consolidated net sales of around TRY 186 billion (approx. EUR 5.5 billion) in 2024. The international share of sales was 59 per cent.

Total investments amounted to around TRY 30 billion (approx. EUR 900 million), while exports reached a value of around EUR 920 million.

Görkem Elverici, CEO of Şişecam, explained: ‘The global economy faced inflationary pressures, high interest rates, restrictive monetary policies, fluctuating energy prices and geopolitical tensions.

Low growth in China, Europe's delayed recovery from the energy crisis and political uncertainties, particularly in the US, posed major challenges. Another significant hurdle for export-oriented companies like ours was the discrepancy between exchange rates and inflation in Turkey.’

The company continues to make targeted investments in strategic areas such as digitalisation and innovative product developments. The increase in participation in the Icron partnership is intended to drive data-based decision-making and operational excellence. With the ‘Plant of the Future’ platform launched in 2024, Şişecam aims to combine its expertise with the capabilities of suppliers and technology providers to develop innovative solutions for the glass industry.

‘In 2025, we will continue to act decisively to master the challenges of the times and create added value for our shareholders. At the same time, we remain committed to our long-term growth targets and continue to take realistic but ambitious steps to achieve them,’ Elverici concluded.
