The first Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Bronze certification of version 3.1 for these three European product ranges took place in December 2019, and Guardian Glass is now one of the first float glass companies to meet in three of the five assessment categories, according to Guardian.
These break down into: Material Health of the ingredients used, Product Recyclability and Responsible Water and Soil Management - including the more stringent requirements of C2C Bronze Version 4.0.

In the material health category, Guardian's European-made float glass even achieves C2C Gold Version 4.0 certification.
What are the benefits of building with C2C certified products?
The Cradle to Cradle Building Charter is an incentive for architects and designers to design environmentally friendly buildings from the outset that have a positive impact on the environment in which they are built.
A growing number of brands, organisations and sustainability standards such as LEED, BREEAM and WELL already recognise the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ product standard as the preferred product designation for more responsible purchasing decisions.
Jonathan Brunette, ESG & Certification Manager at Guardian Industries, commented: "This is a great achievement by the teams at Guardian Glass. We are particularly pleased to have achieved Bronze 4.0 certification in three performance categories for our European float, coated and laminated glass products.
What are the differences in the re-certification?
Compared to version 3.1, version 4.0 includes new, increased requirements, including a new framework for product circularity, additional requirements for water and soil management, and improved alignment of materials environmental performance requirements with applicable chemical regulations and other standards.
